Our Programs
The DC AI Collaborative offers hands-on, practice-driven programs that support schools in integrating artificial intelligence responsibly, equitably, and sustainably.
Our programs are designed to meet schools where they are—whether they are just beginning to explore AI or are ready to deepen and refine existing practices. Each experience is grounded in real classrooms, educator expertise, and shared learning across schools.
-
Through the Living Lab @ WLA, participants engage in structured classroom observation and reflection cycles.
These experiences allow educators and leaders to:
Observe AI-supported instruction in real classrooms
Engage in facilitated reflection with WLA teachers
Analyze instructional design decisions, tradeoffs, and outcomes
Adapt strategies for their own school contexts
The focus is on learning from practice, not evaluation.
-
Teachers are not passive consumers of AI tools. They are designers, decision-makers, and leaders of instructional change.
The DC AI Collaborative is grounded in real classroom practice at Washington Leadership Academy and partner schools. Educators pilot AI-supported strategies in live learning environments, reflect on what works and what doesn’t, and share lessons learned across schools.
By centering educator leadership, we ensure that AI integration is:
Instructionally sound
Feasible within real school constraints
Responsive to the day-to-day realities of teaching
What we share across the Collaborative is tested in practice, not imagined in theory.
-
The DC AI Collaborative convenes educators, school leaders, and partners across schools to share insights and co-develop solutions.
This collaborative model:
Breaks down isolation between schools
Supports shared problem-solving around AI integration
Produces adaptable tools, frameworks, and guidance
Builds a community of practice grounded in trust and transparency
-
Our programs also create space for policymakers, caregivers, and community partners to engage with AI in education.
Through guided visits and conversations, participants gain:
Firsthand insight into how AI shows up in classrooms
A deeper understanding of implementation realities
Opportunities to align policy, practice, and community expectations
